The Alliance and the Democrats did not want to see any restriction at all, and the companies that provide the electric scooters have not voluntarily implemented regulations.

The Social Democrats' proposal won after support from the Left Party and the Green Party.

But who will ensure that the maximum ceiling is not exceeded?

Well, the municipality itself in the first place.

"If the municipality considers that the land lease is not complied with, you report it to the police, just as when, for example, you have an outdoor restaurant without a land lease, and only then will it be a matter for the police," writes press secretary Ruben Malmström in an email to SVT.

He continues:

"However, we have no reason to believe that the companies will not respect the land lease, although I can imagine that they are very dissatisfied."

This summer, we will see if the decision puts in order what many have experienced as chaos.

In Stockholm, a decision was made in the autumn on a maximum ceiling of 12,000 electric scooters.
