The answer below:

news of the day

“Russia intends to continue its fight without compromise against members of nationalist groups who commit war crimes,” President Vladimir Putin announced to Emmanuel Macron during yet another telephone conversation between the two leaders.

For the French president, it emerged from this exchange that his Russian counterpart was more than ever determined to "take control" of all of Ukraine.

Faced with such a speech, Emmanuel Macron estimated after hanging up that "the worst is yet to come".

An opinion supported earlier in the day by the head of French diplomacy, Jean-Yves Le Drian, who said "fear a logic of siege", to which "the Russians are used".

For his part, the Ukrainian president predicted a dark future for Europe in the event of Ukraine being taken.

"If we disappear, may God protect us, then it will be Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia etc... Up to the Berlin Wall, believe me", declared Volodymyr Zelensky.

sentence of the day

You will fully repay us for everything you have done against our state, against every Ukrainian

Volodymyr Zelensky promised his people to "rebuild every building, every street, every city" destroyed by the Russian strikes and that Vladimir Putin would pay for it.

“We say to Russia: learn the word 'reparations'”.

The number of the day

115. The barrel of American oil WTI exceeded 115 dollars, which was its highest level since 2008. For its part, Brent was close to 120 dollars.

The trend of the day

This Thursday, the reception of Ukrainian refugees was at the heart of European concerns.

The interior ministers of the 27 EU member states have agreed to grant “temporary protection” in the EU to people “fleeing war” in Ukraine.

A historic decision since it is the first time that the Member States have decided by qualified majority to activate the 2001 directive on the reception of displaced persons.

The question of refugees arriving from the country, but not having Ukrainian nationality, has not, however, been settled.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, nearly one million refugees have already fled Ukraine to neighboring countries since the start of the Russian invasion.

On the French side, government spokesman Gabriel Attal reaffirmed, in accordance with Emmanuel Macron's speech the day before, that "France will play its part" in welcoming refugees.

He specified that 400 of them had already arrived in France.
