Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Prime Minister Kishida participated in a video conference by the leaders of "Quad", the framework of the four countries of Japan, the United States, Australia and India, on the night of the 3rd.

At the meeting, they agreed that the Indo-Pacific region should not be allowed to unilaterally change the status quo by force in light of Russia's military invasion.

Following Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, a video conference was held by the leaders of "Quad", the framework of the four countries of Japan, the United States, Australia, and India, for about an hour from 11:00 pm on the 3rd, and Prime Minister Kishida also participated. Did.



In this, Prime Minister Kishida said, "This invasion by Russia is a one-sided attempt to change the status quo by force, and it shakes the foundation of the order of the international community and is severely criticized."



He explained that the Government of Japan is working closely with the international community, including the G7 = seven major countries, to swiftly take strict measures and to support Ukraine.



At the meeting, the leaders of the four countries shared the recognition that unilateral changes in the status quo by force should not be allowed in the Indo-Pacific region in light of Russia's military invasion, and toward the realization of a free and open Indo-Pacific. We agreed on a policy of further promoting these efforts.



We also agreed to hold a face-to-face quad summit in Tokyo within a few months and confirmed that we will work together for the success of the summit.



After this, the four countries will publish a document that incorporates the results of the video conference.
