Philippe Poutou said this afternoon in a short video that he managed to collect 500 sponsorships, allowing him to be an official candidate for the presidential election.

A relief for the NPA candidate, who was not reassured about this a few weeks ago.

Philippe Poutou, presidential candidate?

The candidate of the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) said this afternoon in a short video published on these social networks that he managed to collect 500 sponsorships, allowing him to be officially a candidate for the supreme election.

"It will certainly be a figure below 500 [with the new count of the Constitutional Council], but we already know, with the rise of the militant teams and the figures we have from the old counter (…) that we will reach 500”, he assured.

A relief for the NPA candidate, who was not reassured about this a few weeks ago.

He had in passing castigated "the sponsorship bank" set up by François Bayrou (MoDem) who announced in early February the creation of a site offering mayors to sponsor candidates on condition that the latter "reach 10% in the polls ".

439 sponsorships actually validated

As specified by Philippe Poutou in his video, the Constitutional Council has for its part published a new list of sponsorships.

The NPA candidate has, to date, 439 validated sponsorships.

The final results will be given next Monday by the President of the Council Laurent Fabius, since "only the final decision of the Constitutional Council is authentic", specifies the institution.

The 500, we have them!

So what we have been repeating since the beginning of the campaign is now assured: we will be there!

We will therefore continue and amplify an anti-capitalist, ecologist, anti-racist, feminist, internationalist campaign.
