Municipal director Bengt Friberg emphasizes that the risk of an armed attack in Sweden is low.

Nevertheless, it is important to have a good preparedness, he says in the text.

Room for close to 30,000

Part of the preparedness is to review the municipality's 288 shelters, which hold 28,840 places.

A shelter must have access to water, heating, ventilation and toilet facilities.

And it should be possible to set it up in 48 hours.

- We are taking an inventory of the situation in the shelters the municipality is responsible for, says civil defense coordinator Thomas Johnson.

- When we talk about shelters and the like, you naturally feel worried, not least as the situation is right now.

But this is about being prepared for things that could happen after all, says Bengt Friberg.

Basement - if you live outside the urban areas

The shelters in the municipality are located in central Hudiksvall, Delsbo and Iggesund.

“When the shelters were built once upon a time, it was judged that the risk of attack is greatest in urban areas.

If you live outside the urban areas, you should look for other places where you can feel safe, for example basements ", the municipality writes on its website.
