The hope is that the golf courses will then be able to be vital environments for sensitive animals and plant species, the county administrative board writes in a press release.

- The golf course is not just for our golfers, but for everyone.

We want to take care of nature in a nice and responsible way so that it can be part of the benefit to society, says Björn Gustafsson, course manager at Östergötland Golf Association.

Behind the collaboration are the changes that have taken place in the landscape with more uniform forest areas and arable land as well as the spread of the cities.

During the summer, a consultant will carry out an inventory of plant and animal life on the county's golf courses.

The project is part of the regional cooperation Green Infrastructure.
