The female assistant captain, Nouf Abdullah Al-Shehhi, preferred to study aviation over “information technology”, to achieve her dream of piloting aircraft among the open skies, and the challenges did not prevent her from achieving her goal.

Al-Shehhi told "Emirates Today" that her aviation studies were divided between the theoretical side at Oxford in London, and the practical study at the Fujairah Aviation Academy, noting that she finished her secondary education at the "Governmental" Maria Coptic School in Dubai, and "after completing high school, I was inspired by the idea of ​​working in the field of aircraft leadership from the Emirati pilot, Captain Aisha Al Hamli, and then I started reading about this field, which confirmed my desire to specialize in this field.”

And she began training and working with Fly Dubai in February 2020, explaining that the training phase began before the spread of the “Corona” pandemic, and therefore the training phase extended for a longer period than scheduled, due to the interruption of flights between countries for a period, and then the flight phase began in August 2020. Until now.

Al-Shehhi stated that training in the field of aviation goes through three stages, starting with the stage of sitting to the right of one of the experienced pilots, "a trained captain", for observation and learning.

She pointed out that "the trainers were of different nationalities, and among the most skilled pilots, who benefited from their guidance a lot."

Al-Shehhi is currently working as an “assistant captain” at the airline “Fly Dubai”, noting that she is studying a bachelor’s degree in aviation management, and will graduate soon, as she has only one subject left to finish her studies, and she aims to fly for a number of hours that qualifies her to be a “captain”. .

She explained that the study at the Fujairah Aviation College lasted eight months, and it gives a license to pilot the plane, while studying a Bachelor of Aviation qualifies her to specialize in other fields in the field of aviation.

Al Shehhi pointed out that joining the Fujairah Aviation Academy requires high health fitness, so annual medical examinations are conducted, which are comprehensive examinations of blood, heart, height, weight and others.

She added that her mother was categorically refusing to study aviation, and therefore she was forced to join the Higher College of Technology for Women in Dubai to study "information technology", and she continued at the college for only two academic years "a diploma" and did not complete a bachelor's degree, then she joined the College of Aviation in Fujairah, noting that the field of aviation He fulfills her dreams of traveling and getting to know different countries and cultures.
