China's basic position of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and abiding by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter is consistent and clear.

We call on all parties concerned to exercise restraint, de-escalate the situation and avoid civilian casualties.

The safety and humanitarian needs of all civilians, including foreign citizens in Ukraine, should be effectively guaranteed, especially to prevent large-scale humanitarian crises.

Chen Xu stressed that China supports and encourages all diplomatic efforts that are conducive to a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and welcomes the start of direct dialogue and negotiation between Russia and Ukraine.

Any action taken by the United Nations and all parties at the moment must focus on regional peace and stability and the general security of all parties. It should be conducive to de-escalating the emergency situation and promoting a diplomatic solution.

Chen Xu said that China opposes the politicization of human rights issues, opposes using human rights issues to put pressure on other countries, and opposes the establishment of an independent international commission of inquiry on the Ukraine issue.

China disapproves of any practice that may escalate conflicts.

The intervention and action of the UN Human Rights Council will only intensify contradictions and confrontation, and is not conducive to the peaceful settlement of the Ukraine issue through diplomatic channels.

We urge relevant parties to stop politicizing human rights issues, abandon confrontation and pressure, and commit to solving problems through dialogue.

China will continue to play a constructive role in seeking and realizing peace.
