America: We do not want war with Russia
The White House considered that the establishment of a no-fly zone over Ukraine would lead to a war with Russia, which the American side does not want.
"Washington believes that the imposition of a no-fly zone over Ukraine will entail the necessity for the United States to shoot down Russian military aircraft flying over the country, which would mean starting a war with the Russian Federation," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
"This is exactly what we want to avoid," Psaki said during a press briefing.
The US administration has repeatedly rejected the idea of creating a no-fly zone over Ukraine in light of the ongoing Russian military operation in the country.
As the White House said, "the no-fly zone would be a step in the right direction, but its implementation would require the deployment of US military forces, which could mean a possible military confrontation with Russia."
