Russian missiles are heading towards a TV transmission tower in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital.

The lower floors of the TV tower that were bombarded were engulfed in red flames.

Ukrainian state television has been paralyzed and at least five people have been killed.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has warned citizens of Kiiu to abandon the capital and run away because of an airstrike.

Ukrainian forces are desperately defending themselves by blowing up the bridges leading to Kiiu.

It is said that more than 100 people were injured in the Russian attack in the southern port city of Mariupol, and Kherson, a city of 250,000 in southern Ukraine, was occupied by Russian forces.

Artillery shells also flew at civilians who were filming the horrors of the war in hiding.

Meanwhile, Ukraine said it had caught a unit trying to assassinate President Zelensky in a suburb northwest of Kiiu and destroyed them all.

The New York Times, citing a report by a senior Pentagon official, estimated that in the five days after the war broke out, 1,500 people were killed in both Ukraine and Russia each.

It also reported that about 400 Russian soldiers are dying every day.

The UN's International Court of Justice is due to hold a public hearing on Russia's war crimes next week.
