The candidate of Debout la France in the presidential election, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, denounced this Wednesday "the instrumentalization of the Ukrainian drama", which according to him eclipses the campaign and "diverts" the French from the results of Emmanuel Macron.

He also considered it a mistake to send arms to the Ukrainians, in the midst of a Russian military invasion.

The sovereignist candidate Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, who has just crossed the bar of 500 sponsorships, denounced this Wednesday a "certain instrumentalization of the Ukrainian drama" to eclipse the presidential campaign and called for a "real election".

"Now, the challenge is that we have a campaign in France, there must be a campaign", pleaded on France 2 the president of Debout la France.

“I will tell you what is happening and what saddens me is that there has been the fear of the Covid, lies, manipulations, attacks on freedoms in our country, and now there is a certain instrumentalization of the drama Ukrainian so that the French look away from the results of Emmanuel Macron, from the proposals of the candidates", he accused.

"If there is not a real election in 39 days, what will be the mandate of the future candidate and the future president?", He wondered.

Proposing peace, "the only solution" in the Ukrainian conflict

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan said he was "proud" to have validated his place in the presidential election with more than 500 sponsorships, while specifying that he "did not benefit from François Bayrou's scholarship".

"I'm happy that my competitors have their sponsorships, it's normal that they have them," he added.

Éric Zemmour had 620 sponsorships on Tuesday, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan 532, and Marine Le Pen 503, according to the list published by the Constitutional Council.

On the war in Ukraine, "a tragedy", the sovereigntist candidate denounced the sanctions taken by Europe against Russia which, according to him, are both "derisory and disproportionate", considering that they are "gesticulations".

He called for "sanctions which do not affect the peoples of Europe and which do not turn against the French", speaking out only for the freezing of the assets of Putin and the Russian oligarchs.

"Sending weapons to the Ukrainians is the biggest mistake we are doing," he also criticized, saying that "the only solution is to come up with a peace plan". regretting "that France does not do so".

"Neutrality of Ukraine, total disarmament of Ukraine, withdrawal of Russian troops, autonomy status for Donbass and recognition of Crimea as a Russian zone, this is the only solution, and you will see that we will get there because there is no other solution," he said.
