Park Geun-ryeong, the younger brother of former President Park Geun-hye, and former chairman of the Yukyoung Foundation, announced today (2nd) that she supported the Democratic Party's presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung.



Park's side held a press conference today in front of the Democratic Party of Korea in Yeouido and said, "I am confident that in this election, the only candidate who can solve the problem of peaceful reunification through East-West integration and at the same time create 'United Power of Yeongho-nam' is definitely candidate Lee. "I read through the declaration of support of former Chairman Park, which contained the contents.



Former Chairman Park was unable to attend the press conference today due to COVID-19.



In his declaration of support, former chairman Park said, "Another big reason I supported this candidate is, first, that 'conservatives' with theistic notions of the law are required to embrace 'progressive'."



He continued, "It's because you willingly accepted the issues of the new values ​​and the peace regime on the Korean Peninsula that we have been preparing for, along with the spirit of the times," he explained.



He said, "I still remember that the people's approval rating for the current government at that time exceeded 80% after the three inter-Korean summits. We ask for your active support while thinking about the future.”



The Democratic Party announced that it had appointed former Chairman Park as an advisor to the general election committee.
