- All involved municipalities with whom we had a dialogue have done a thorough job and contributed with constructive proposals, but we see that these four are the ones who have the best overall conditions for us to be able to establish ourselves, says the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's finance and property manager Björn Myrberg in a press release.
Several municipalities interested
It was this summer that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service first issued a request for interest to municipalities in Östergötland and Jönköping counties regarding the establishment of a new institution.
Several municipalities showed interest in the establishment in both Östergötland and Jönköping.
The establishment would mean about 300 new jobs and an institution in security class 2 with about 300-400 inmates.
Important conditions for the establishment going forward are land availability and location in relation to E4.
The goal is to sign a letter of intent with one of the four municipalities at the turn of the year 2022.
