Jean-Pierre Pernaut, former star presenter of 13 hours of TF1, died at the age of 71, announced Wednesday, March 2, to AFP, the agent of his wife.

"Tom, Lou, Olivier and Julien's father died of lung cancer" in the afternoon, said his wife Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut.

His former employer, the TF1 television channel, confirmed the journalist's disappearance.

A real star, Jean-Pierre Pernaut presented the 13-hour newscast of TF1 for more than thirty years, between 1988 and 2020. He imposed his style there, highlighting numerous reports on French traditions.

The journalist continued to host a program on LCI.
