News of the sacrifice of Ukrainian sports stars in the wake of the Russian invasion has shocked sports fans around the world.

The Ukrainian Biathlon Federation (Ukrainian Biathlon Federation) said in a statement on the 1st local time that former Ukrainian biathlon national Evgeny Malishev has died.

Eastern European media Nextstar also reported that former biathlete Evgeny Malishev was killed in a battle in Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, citing the announcement of the Ukrainian sports community.

Evgeny Malishev died while serving in the military in his home country after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

It is especially sad when it is known that he, who was born in 2002, died two months before his 20th birthday.

The Ukrainian sports community prayed for his well-being, saying, "I will remember the national team training we went together two years ago. A hero never dies."
