The Russian Figure Skating Federation issued a statement on its website on the 1st of local time, saying, "We are very disappointed with the decision of the ISU. This decision is very discriminatory and goes against the spirit of the Olympics. It will be a blow.”



"Under the current circumstances, we will review all possible options and take the necessary measures to protect the interests of our players and coaches," he said.



Earlier, the ISU announced disciplinary measures to restrict participation in international competitions for Russians who invaded Ukraine and Belarusians who sympathized with Russia.



The ISU officially declared that "in accordance with the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), athletes belonging to the Russian and Belarusian Ice Skating Federations will not be allowed to participate in international competitions."



The ISU added, "These sanctions remain in effect until a further board decision is made. Additional measures may be taken if necessary."



In addition, the ISU has completely blocked the possibility of athletes belonging to the Russian-Belarus Federation to compete even as a neutral member.



Due to this decision, athletes from Russia and Belarus will not be able to participate in the 2021-2022 ISU World Speed ​​Skating Championships, Short Track World Championships, and Figure Skating World Championships to be held in Montpellier, France on March 21st.





As a result of the ISU decision, women's single gold medalist Anna Sherbakova and silver medalist Alexandra Trusova in figure skating at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, as well as Camilla Balieva, who angered the world over the doping controversy during the Olympic Games, were disqualified from participating in the World Championships.




Balieva, who fell in an instant due to a doping scandal in 'Figure Skating Genius Girl', did not participate in the World Championships this time, but the results were in vain.



Tatiana Tarasova, a 'Russian figure skating godmother', who was also famous as the leader of Mao Asada (Japan), complained about the ISU's disciplinary action and said, "Russian athletes are the jewels of the world figure skating world. Without Russian athletes, the world championship is worthwhile. will disappear too,” he exclaimed.




Meanwhile, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that it will revoke the Olympic medal awarded to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
