The County Administrative Board has inventoried wolves since the first of October with the help of, among other things, cameras and information from the public.

When the snow came last Sunday, the county administrative board could also track in an area between Eskilstuna and Flen where the public saw wolves.

- We collected urine, droppings and running blood and analyzes showed a female and a male marking the territory.

One wolf comes from Ärla and the other from Sjundareviret, says Staffan Claesson.

Another territory

The new area was named Älgmossen.

Just a few days later, the county administrative board received new reports of two wolves merging in an area north of Hälleforsnäs.

The County Administrative Board suspected that it was wolves from Ärlareviret or Älgmossen that had gone down a bit.

But a trace instead showed that it was two new wolves that established a new territory - the Gryten area, also between Eskilstuna and Flen.

- For Sörmland, it is extremely unusual.

We had no territory ten years ago and now it goes pretty fast, says Staffan Claesson.

From none to three new territories

Last year's wolf inventory did not show any new territories.

This year's inventory, which runs until the end of March, has so far yielded three new territories.

The wolf virus that was discovered in February and then Älgmossen and Gryten last week.

All three territories are in the area between Eskilstuna and Flen.

- It is unusual for wolf pairs to be in such small areas, so close to each other and it is therefore uncertain whether everyone will stay in the area where they now reside, says Staffan Cleasson at the county administrative board.
