Today, Tuesday, the work of the United Nations General Assembly continues in its emergency special session on Ukraine, while the Russian and Ukrainian negotiating delegations returned to their capitals for consultation, promising to resume negotiations later.

On Monday, 45 delegates from the world body spoke on the first day of the session, including Ukraine and Russia, with 70 member states still on the list of speakers.

Diplomats expect that a vote will be taken on Wednesday on a draft resolution denouncing what he described as "Russian aggression" against Ukraine, and calling on Moscow to withdraw its forces immediately and without any conditions.

This session was convened after the Security Council failed to take a decision on the war due to the Russian veto.

Yesterday, in Belarus, the first round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, which is the first of its kind since the outbreak of the war, ended, and the two sides agreed to resume negotiations after the return of delegations from Moscow and Kiev for consultations.

A second round of negotiations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country is preparing for the second round of negotiations if the Ukrainian Negotiating Committee returns and discusses what happened with it.

He added that Kyiv did not receive the response it was waiting for, but the Russian response was clear on the ground.

The Ukrainian presidency had confirmed earlier that the main objective of the negotiations is an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine.

For its part, the Kremlin declared that the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations should take place in a calm, silent and without fanfare.

The head of the Russian negotiating delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, stated that his country is interested in quickly reaching an agreement with Ukraine.

In a parallel context, the Ukrainian president called on Tuesday for the imposition of a ban on Russia in "all the world's ports and airports."

In a video message posted on Facebook, Zelensky said that "such a country should be denied entry to all ports, canals and airports in the world."

He also called on the international community to "consider closing its entire airspace to Russian missiles, planes and helicopters."

"This evil, armed with missiles, bombs and cannons, must be stopped immediately and must be destroyed economically so that humanity can show that it is capable of defending itself," the Ukrainian president stressed.
