Drums from West Africa resounded yesterday in Al Wasl Square, during Benin's celebration of its "National Day" at Expo 2020 Dubai, inviting the exhibition's guests to visit its pavilion and explore its rich culture and history, which inspires its solutions for a sustainable future.

Najeeb Al-Ali, Executive Director of the Office of the Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, said: "Benin is displaying, through its participation in (Expo 2020 Dubai), its vision as a gateway to West Africa, and as a rapidly developing trade and logistics center," noting that its participation sheds light on the main sectors. For foreign direct investment, as well as providing glimpses of its rich cultural heritage, and its attractive tourism offers.

Al-Ali added: "We are proud of our strong bilateral relations with Benin, and we hope to develop the existing partnerships between our two countries, while exploring new areas towards further cooperation, such as: trade, infrastructure, and the agricultural industry."

For his part, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Benin, Babalola Jean-Michel Herve Abimbola, who attended the celebrations in Al Wasl Square, described his country as “a land of encounters and culture, and a country of business opportunities supported by a hardworking people, driven by passion and a connection to history, as Benin has made remarkable progress. in all sectors.

He said: “In the battle we are fighting to save our planet, we are now writing our story in a collective way, and everyone is aware, whether they are affected in a small or large way by environmental problems, that collective efforts that reflect a common awareness, can alone lead to real results, and that is why they are defending The Republic of Benin has always expressed the importance of the measures that will be taken, so that their effects will be as long-lasting as possible, and we have the wisdom: (One by one, little light after another will light up the city).”

The celebrations included a dance performance using traditional drums in Al Wasl Square, for the “Les Pepet Arts” group, a performance group made up of a group of children aged between five and 19 years.

The Boys’ Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, located in the Sustainability District, invites visitors to learn about the possibilities of living in a harmonious way with nature while creating solutions to current challenges, to explore the story of the Kingdom’s women makers, and to play traditional games, while celebrating women, the skill of indigenous people, and heritage. , Benin culture, indigenous knowledge, and the "Nana Benz" phenomenon, through which women build entire business empires.
