Russian forces continued their quest to control the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and other cities, to enter the war launched by Russia on its western neighbor, its sixth day without a major dramatic change.

In conjunction with the battles and the huge Russian military build-up approaching Kyiv, negotiations were launched between the two sides of the conflict in Belarus, while the United Nations General Assembly held a special session to discuss the situation in Ukraine based on a Security Council resolution.

The declarations of countries did not stop with imposing additional sanctions on Russia following its military operations in Ukraine, and Turkey recorded a rare position by asking all countries not to send warships to its straits between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea under the Montreux Treaty of 1936.
