- We were surprised that ordinary people went to the ATMs so quickly to withdraw cash, says Nina Wenning, CEO of Bankomat AB.

On Thursday, the company had a forecast that it would withdraw about SEK 185 million in cash, but instead it was almost a quarter of a billion.

- It was SEK 63 million more than the forecast.

It can only be explained by a direct connection to the war in Ukraine, she says.

But, adds Nina Wenning, there is no risk that the cash will run out because the machines are being refilled continuously.

Fewer withdrawals in Stockholm

According to the company, withdrawals in Stockholm, between the 24th and the 28th of February, increased by 20% compared with the same period in 2021. The corresponding figure for the rest of the country is 31%.

In the video above, Nina Wenning tells more about how Bankomat AB views the withdrawal increase.
