Almost six years after the tragedy, a business in the former Cuba Libre in Rouen

The dreadful night of August 5 to 6, 2016 is still in everyone's memory.

Fourteen people lost their lives in the fire in the basement of a bar, Le Cuba Libre in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), while they were attending a birthday party.

A basement fitted out without authorisation, flammable materials, a locked emergency door... The two brothers who manage the establishment were sentenced to three years in prison in October 2019 for "manslaughter by deliberate violation of an obligation of security or prudence.

They have since been granted conditional release and will only have served a few months in detention.

The scene of the tragedy had since remained unoccupied.
