Motorists who have driven into Karlskrona in the last four months have perhaps by now gotten used to cones in the roadway and queues into town?

But now the lengthy work of repairing the concrete piles under the driveway is complete - and the road opened up for traffic on Tuesday morning as usual again.

Worse condition than expected

SVT Nyheter Blekinge wrote the first article about the access road repair work on 1 November 2021. At that time, it was thought that the work would continue until the turn of the year.

But a lot has happened along the way.

During the work, the concrete piles turned out to be in worse condition than expected and to ensure the working environment for the divers working underwater to replace the pillars, the municipality had to re-plan the work.

The work was also further complicated when it turned out that the cold meant that the hardening of the concrete took a very long time.

But those who have been waiting to get in and out of Trossö unhindered can breathe a sigh of relief today.

During Monday evening and at night, the road has been remote to be cleared of barrier material and during Tuesday, the access road was reopened.
