• Direct War Ukraine - Russia, breaking news

Dozens of people have died and hundreds have been injured in a Russian missile attack on residential neighborhoods in Kharkov, a Ukrainian city located about 50 kilometers from the border with Russia, according to the adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, Anton Gueraschenko. .

"Kharkov. A merciless and senseless attack on a residential neighborhood with missiles! Corpses destroyed in the streets

," Gueraschenko has written on his Telegram channel, in which he publishes several videos with harrowing images.

In one of them you can see the bodies of passers-by and in another a woman whose leg was blown off by the explosion of one of the missiles.

In another of the videos, lasting 30 seconds, it is seen how about fifteen missiles hit a sector of the city, located in the northeast of Ukraine.

The bombing has also been denounced by the regional governor Oleg Sinegubov, who has reported that at least 11 civilians have died.

"The Russian enemy bombs residential neighborhoods," he has written on social networks.

"Because of the bombings, which continue to take place, we cannot use the rescue services (...). Currently there are 11 dead and dozens of wounded," he added.

"What is happening right now in Kharkov is a war crime!"

, he declared, "it is the genocide of the Ukrainian people", Sinegubov said, speaking of "heavy artillery" fire.

"Dozens of civilians have died, during the day, when people go to the pharmacy, to do their shopping, to look for water," says the governor, who recalls that in the attacked neighborhoods there were no "positions of the Ukrainian armed forces."

On Sunday, Sinegubov announced that the northeastern Ukrainian city of 1.4 million was under "full control" by Ukrainian forces, hours after he acknowledged a Russian "incursion" that led to street fighting.

Dmitri Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said on Monday during his daily statement to the media that

"the Russian military is doing everything possible" to "ensure the safety of civilians"

in Ukraine.

"We have seen many examples of Ukrainian nationalist groups using the civilian population as a human shield," he said, calling it "unacceptable" and "criminal."
