- The preparedness is good.

We have our preparedness based on the fact that we are an arrival municipality together with the Swedish Migration Board and we cooperate with Malmö and Ystad, says Fredrik Geijer, municipal director in Trelleborg.

The municipality of Trelleborg has a small management team that leads the operational work with emergency preparedness.

- We are mentally prepared and we have a competent organization.

The Swedish Migration Agency, the border police and the EU tell us what refugee flows we receive.

If there are unaccompanied children, we are prepared for it based on the requirements of the Social Services Act, says municipal director Fredrik Geijer.

Be prepared when it happens

On Monday morning, Trelleborg municipality has no indications that there are any refugees on their way to the municipality, but there is preparedness.

A Christian congregation in Höör plans to receive about 80 children who are on their way by bus from an orphanage in Kyiv.

- We have been in contact with Höör municipality and we know that the children will come via Trelleborg.

We are prepared to change the situation gradually, says Fredrik Geijer, municipal director in Trelleborg.

When the children are expected to arrive in Sweden is unclear, but the Christian congregation expects the children to arrive at the end of the week.

"We are on our toes"

Nor has Ystad municipality seen any signs that there would be a large influx of refugees on the way.

- We have no signals about that at the moment.

The port of Ystad is well informed about what it looks like on the ferries and we always have a dialogue with the voluntary organizations who are willing to help if needed, says Jörgen Nilsson, safety coordinator in Ystad municipality.

- But we are on our toes, we are awake and we follow the flow, he adds.

"Difficult to overview"

The Swedish Migration Agency is not currently able to comment on the local preparations or possible distribution of refugees and finds it difficult to get an overview of the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

"At present, we have not seen any signs of increased migration to Sweden from Ukraine in particular.

From the start of the conflict last week until today, there are just over 140 Ukrainian citizens who have applied for asylum since then and most of them were already in Sweden ", writes Annica Dahlqvist, press communicator at the Swedish Migration Board.
