The Kuwaiti Ministry of the Interior comments on the incident of “insulting the national flag” .. Video

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced, on Monday, that it had taken legal measures against a woman who was accused of "insulting the national flag," according to local websites.

This decision by the ministry comes after the circulation of a video of a young girl who wore her pet dog a shirt dreaming of the colors of the Kuwaiti flag during her participation in the celebrations of the liberation holidays and the withdrawal of Iraqi forces from the country after its invasion in August of the year 1990.

And the ministry stated in a statement that "the security authorities immediately began legal procedures against the concerned woman, after she appeared in a video clip in which she insulted the state flag, coinciding with the celebrations of the national holidays."

The Ministry of Information had announced that the celebrations of national holidays for the current year will be held under the slogan "Paradise for all of us, in celebration of the 61st National Day and the 31st anniversary of the Liberation Days."

The celebrations of national holidays come for the first time since the novel coronavirus pandemic, coinciding with the Kuwaiti authorities' announcement of easing the imposed restrictions.

A similar incident occurred in 2019, when a video clip circulated by social media users showing a dead dog wrapped in the Kuwaiti flag sparked a wave of resentment and indignation, amid calls for the perpetrator to be held accountable.

In that clip, which was filmed by one of the women, the body of a stray dog appeared on the side of the road before she removed the flag from the dog.

Some of the tweeters at the time demanded to search for the perpetrator and hold him accountable for what he had done.
