Part of the funds allocated by NED last year was provided to non-profit organizations and "independent" media to work in the Donbass.

Thus, the Ukrainian charitable foundation "Vostok-SOS" was instructed to draw public attention to the "violation of human rights" in the DPR and LPR.

“The organizations will identify Russian persecution and colonization policies in the region and document illustrative examples,” the report says.

NPOs were also required to prepare a report and submit it to international bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council, the European Court of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice.

In addition, NED was engaged in supporting "independent" media in the Donbass.

In particular, it was planned to facilitate the broadcasting of Free Radio (Vilne Radio), which would broadcast news on democratic reforms in Ukraine and cover local stories.

The projects of the American foundation also included conducting investigative journalism, disseminating publications about events in Donbass on social networks, counteracting “disinformation” and training specialists.

“The group will organize training and mentoring programs for journalists from rural areas in conflict-affected areas in eastern Ukraine,” reads the description of the grant received by Caritas Mariupol.

In addition, NED has funded a number of Ukrainian NGOs whose mission was to assist civil society representatives, strengthen "democracy" and support reforms, including decentralization.

According to political scientist Ruslan Balbek, the US grant policy does not benefit the people of Ukraine and Donbass at all, but is an instrument of information and psychological warfare.

The so-called human rights activists and "independent" media manipulate people's public consciousness and help the United States ensure its expansion, he explained in an interview with RT.

“The technology of grant support is widespread, and the media created in this way are used for ideological sabotage and dissemination of false information.

By fabricating myths and fake news, they are trying to mobilize society in the interests of the donor,” the analyst added.

Earlier it became known that from 2014 to 2021, the United States transferred $3.3 billion to the Ukrainian side. This amount includes military and financial support.

As reported, Ukraine was in first place in Eastern Europe in terms of foreign aid provided by Washington.
