For several years, the leisure leader Fahrudin Culum has arranged excursions to Vättlefjäll for schoolchildren in Gothenburg.

It all started when he met young people who for various reasons had a boring attitude and could not focus on school.

He already had contact with the retired principal and special needs teacher Jan Olof Olsson, who he knew ran a farm.

Fahrudin applied for a grant to rent a car and started taking students to Jan Olof Olsson's farm in Vättlefjäll north of Gothenburg.

Soon they noticed that the students both became calmer and felt better when they had to do chores on the farm.

- These tough, tough guys become something completely different once they come here and get to be with the animals, says Jan Olof Olsson.

One of the students who often accompanies me to the yard is ninth grader Abdullah.

He feels that the motivation in school has increased since he started visiting the farm.

- You get more energy and want to show what you can do, he says.

Hope politicians act

Now the leisure leader Fahrudin Culum hopes that more people will follow his initiative.

- The principals approve this without any problems.

Politicians and those who decide must come out in reality and see what young people need and how to help them in the best way.
