As the military invasion of Ukraine into Russia continues, the EU-European Union has decided to provide weapons for the first time to strengthen its support for Ukraine.

On the 27th, the EU-European Union held an online foreign ministers' meeting to discuss support for Ukraine.

At a press conference after the meeting, EU High Representative Borrell said, "There is a total war in Ukraine. I want to do everything for Ukraine." 500 million euros (about 65 billion yen in Japanese yen) ) Has been revealed to provide military support.

Of this amount, 450 million euros will be used to provide weapons, and the EU will bear the funds for each member state to send weapons to Ukraine.

"We are ready to offer more than just ammunition, but also fighters," said High Representative Borrell.

This is the first time that the EU has provided weapons to countries outside the region as military assistance.

The Foreign Ministers' Meeting also decided to take additional sanctions on Russia, such as banning Russian airlines from entering the EU.

Widespread movement to cancel Russian flights

Prior to the EU's decision, major member countries such as Germany and France and the United Kingdom have independently banned flights, which will keep European countries in line.

Russia, on the other hand, is gradually restricting flights within its territory to European airlines.

As a result, there is a growing movement among European airlines to cancel Russian flights.

In addition, many flights between Europe and Asia, including Japan, fly within Russia's airspace, which may force a review of routes.

Of these, Air France announced on the 27th that it will temporarily suspend flights to Japan, China and South Korea while considering a flight plan to avoid Russia's airspace, and Asian flights are beginning to be affected.
