In recent days, several fundraisers have been started around Blekinge for the benefit of the people of Ukraine.

Both private individuals and organizations are involved and one example is the Pentecostal church in Karlshamn.

This weekend, they chose to donate their entire daily cash from the second-hand shop to help Ukrainian citizens.

- Right now there are so many who feel hopeless.

To be able to give them at least a little compassion in the situation they are in, that is the least we can do, says Fredrik Olsson, pastor of the Pentecostal church in Karlshamn.

Buy something to sleep on

The Pentecostal Church works together with the churches in Ukraine's neighboring Moldova, where many have fled from the war.

The money raised by the congregation goes directly to help those who have taken refuge in the country.

- A local church that I spoke to yesterday had 120 people who came to a small church.

It will be full on all floor spaces immediately.

The money can then be used to buy mattresses they can sleep on, food and hygiene items, says Fredrik Olsson.

- We must alleviate the need and show that they are not alone in this.
