Australia bans Putin, Lavrov and Defense Minister from entering its territory

Australia has imposed financial sanctions and entry bans on Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and permanent members of the Russian Security Council.


Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a statement: “Australian financial sanctions and entry bans imposed on the Russian President and other permanent members of the Russian Security Council, in particular the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the Minister of the Interior, have entered into force. Vladimir Kolokoltsev".

The statement added that Australia intends to "continue to work with its like-minded partners" to continue imposing economic sanctions on Russia in order to intensify the sanctions that have been imposed in the past days.

He stated that Australia has imposed sanctions on more than 350 individuals in Russia, including MPs and military leaders, in addition to sanctions against 13 individuals and entities in Belarus, including Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrinin.
