The Abu Dhabi Pension Fund issued a decision to include self-employed citizens from employers, liberal professions and commercial activities in the retirement law in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to allow them to be registered as insured with the Fund voluntarily, provided that they are treated as insured in the private sector.

The Fund clarified that the inclusion of self-employed workers under Law No. 2 of 2000 regarding civil retirement pensions and benefits in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, is concerned with citizens who practice for their own account commercial, industrial or agricultural activities, who have a commercial registry or any other official registry in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and it also includes The decision is for citizens, employers and self-employed persons, indicating that the registration of these categories in the fund is optional, as it is subject to the citizen’s desire to register to benefit from the insurance benefits and advantages that the fund provides to its registrants.

Regarding the subscription mechanism and system for citizens working for themselves, the fund stated that 20 different income brackets have been identified from which employers can choose the appropriate ones, starting from 12,750 dirhams and a maximum of 200,000 dirhams, provided that the monthly contributions are calculated at 26% of the monthly income bracket. The insured bears only 20% of it, while the government bears 6% of the value of the pension contributions in support of it to employers and liberal professions for their contribution to supporting the economic growth of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in order to ensure the principle of justice and equality and the provision of equal opportunities for all insured citizens, as it is the same percentage of support for the employees of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Government and private sectors.

The fund pointed out that the citizen can cancel the subscription if he so desires, or in the event of closing his company or officially stopping his commercial activity, and he can also apply for subscription again after canceling it whenever he so desires.

The fund clarified that according to this decision, a citizen can combine his previous services as an employee in one of the entities subject to the provisions of the law for his services as an employer, provided that he pays for it in return for the cost of joining established according to the law.

The fund stated that citizens covered by this decision can submit applications for registration with the fund as of tomorrow (March 1, 2022) through the fund's website or by applying directly at the headquarters or the various branches of the fund.
