On the morning of the 27th, the government held an emergency meeting of the NSC Standing Committee presided over by Chief Security Officer Suh Hoon to check the North Korean ballistic missile trends and discuss countermeasures.

At today's meeting, the participants expressed deep concern and grave regret over the North's provocation again, although the ROK and the United States had jointly made diplomatic efforts to resolve the North's missile launches.

He also strongly urged the North to respond promptly to proposals for dialogue from the international community, including South Korea and the United States, and to immediately stop any action that goes against a peaceful resolution through diplomacy.

In today's meeting, it was pointed out that North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile at a time when the international community is trying to solve the problem of Russia's invasion of Ukraine is in no way desirable for the world and for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

He also emphasized that South Korea and the United States will closely monitor further North Korean trends through close cooperation in diplomacy, defense, and intelligence, and prepare a security posture ahead of important political events such as next week's presidential election.
