With a beautiful word and colorful parades, the African Union celebrated its honorary day at Expo 2020 Dubai, showcasing its culture, heritage and vision on the level of the African continent.

Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, Reem Al Hashemi, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, received Dr. Monique Nsanzabganwa, during the official ceremony held at Al Wasl Square. .

Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak said: “The participation of the African Union in (Expo 2020 Dubai) provided visitors with an important opportunity to explore the history, culture and vision of the African continent, learn more about its efforts to empower its citizens, and realize its true potential as one of the main change-makers in the the scientist".

He added: "We are proud in the UAE that we have been an active partner to the African continent throughout our 50-year history. A partner with a firm commitment to its development and prosperity.

As we celebrate the strong and influential participation of the African Union in (Expo 2020), we look forward to witnessing the emergence of new initiatives and concerted efforts aimed at the progress of our peoples.”

For her part, Monique Nsanzabganwa said: “We are a united people, embracing our stories, striving for our successes, and this year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our union.

During these two decades, we succeeded in implementing programs that continued to change the lives of our peoples, and the path of our continent for the better, of prosperity, peace and common sustainability.

The official speeches were followed by a poetry performance “From East to West” by Adele, a Kenyan media personality, poet and activist known for her efforts in empowering African women and youth, and Kenyan poet and playwright Moamen. They were accompanied by South African pianist Donovan Russo who performed one of the His compositions, before Nigerian guitarist Adam performs one of the Tuareg songs.

The Angolan troupe Kina Ko Moxi concluded the festivities with a performance of "The Body of the African Soul".

The pavilion of the African Union is located in the Opportunities Zone, and it tells the story of the Union, starting from its founding in 1999, and reflects Africa's efforts to empower and create opportunities for its citizens and the world.
