A mosque which "promotes radical Islam" and "conveys a Salafist ideology" according to the Gironde prefecture.
A temporary closure procedure has been launched against the Al Farouk mosque in Pessac, in the suburbs of Bordeaux, suspected of spreading "a Salafist ideology", indicates the prefect of Gironde Fabienne Buccio, in a press release.
A "contradictory procedure" was launched at this mosque managed by the association Rassemblement des Musulmans de Pessac, opened in 2014 and which welcomes up to a thousand worshippers.
"Sermons and remarks have regularly incited not to respect the laws of the Republic, justified the attacks and valued death as a martyr", details the prefecture in a press release.
Comments “inciting violence, hatred or discrimination”
According to the prefect, all of these facts could constitute "words", "ideas", "theories" or "activities" "inciting violence, hatred or discrimination", encouraging "the commission of acts of terrorism" or "praising such acts".
A temporary closure could be pronounced for a maximum period of 6 months.
