In just over a month, January 17 to February 21, six elderly people have reported to the police that they have been exposed to fraud by telephone, so-called vishing.

The victims live in Uppsala County and, according to the police, have lost large sums of cash via the same procedure.

- Vishing in general has become more common, but then the whole matter usually takes place over the phone.

This stands out because the fraudster also comes home to the elderly, says Maria Karlsson, crime prevention officer at the Region Central police.

How do you work to solve the crimes?

- We follow the accounts, but we see in these cases that cash has been withdrawn and then we can hope that there is film surveillance or observations from witnesses, says Maria Karlsson.
