During the pandemic, Jan Smedjegård worked hard to inform about the restrictions that apply in Västmanland.

A period he thinks has been both instructive and a great challenge.

- You have not been sure not to fall ill again regardless of whether you have had the disease or not.

This has made it much more complicated to assess the risk of new waves of infection and serious continued cases of disease, says Jan Smedjegård.

At the end of February, Jan Smedjegård leaves his intensive role as an infection control doctor and begins to retire.

But he will not put the work aside completely.

- I will transition to retirement, but I will continue to support the region to some extent with some continued further work, says Jan.
