Foreign Minister Hayashi had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Lau of neighboring Poland over the situation in Ukraine, where the Russian military invasion continued.

Minister Hayashi requested cooperation in the event of the evacuation of Japanese residents in Ukraine, and Foreign Minister Lau responded that he would provide maximum support.

In a telephone conversation on the night of the 26th, the two foreign ministers shared the view that a military invasion by Russian troops is an invasion that violates Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is never admitted as a serious violation of international law.

It was agreed that Russia's unilateral attempt to change the status quo would shake the foundations of the order of the international community as a whole, not just in Europe.

Minister Hayashi requested cooperation for about 120 Japanese residents in Ukraine so that they could enter the country smoothly when evacuating to Poland, while Foreign Minister Lau responded that he would provide maximum support.

The two Foreign Ministers confirmed that Japan and Poland will continue to work closely together to improve the situation.
