A 35-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son

have died after being trapped in their home in a fire declared in

Jaraíz de la Vera

(Cáceres), as reported by the 112 Extremadura emergency service.

The flames occurred after half past twelve at night and the intervention of firefighters from the Plasencia and Navalmoral de la Mata parks has been necessary to control the fire.



The deceased woman had carbon monoxide poisoning and the emergency teams displaced to the scene, up to 5 ambulances, have not been able to do anything to save her life and that of her son.

The smoke also caused her 7-year-old son to suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning and was

transferred to the Virgen del Puerto hospital in Plasencia.

where he died hours later.



Six other people, including the minor's grandmother, 65, have been slightly injured by the smoke caused by the fire, including two local police officers and a Civil Guard officer.

The fire occurred at number 147 of the Avenida de la Constitución.
