"Facebook" prevents Russian state media from publishing their ads!

The administration of the social network Facebook has banned the Russian state-owned media from running ads and monetizing around the world.

“We prohibit Russian state-owned media from running ads and monetizing our platform worldwide,” said Nathaniel Gleicher, head of security policy.

These changes have already begun to take effect, and will continue over the weekend."

He stressed that the employees of his network will continue to accompany the publications of the Russian state media with appropriate notes.

Earlier, the Facebook administration imposed restrictions on the official accounts of four Russian media: Zvezda TV channel, RIA Novosti news agency, Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru websites.

Yesterday, the Federal Agency for Monitoring Communications, Information Technology and the Media, "Roskomnadzor", announced that it is partially restricting access to Facebook and slowing down its speed because it is considered to be involved in violating human rights and fundamental freedoms.

According to Russia Today, the authority indicated that since October 2020, 23 cases of censorship have been recorded by Facebook in relation to Russian media and Internet resources.
