On February 25, 2022, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Development John Truss of the United Kingdom.

Wang Yi said that in October last year, President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Johnson, which provided important guidance for the development of China-UK relations.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and the UK. It is an important year in the history of China-UK relations.

Fifty years of experience and lessons have proved that the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the UK is fully in line with the interests of both countries.

The two sides should cherish the achievements of exchanges over the past 50 years, continue to strengthen exchanges and dialogues based on the principles of equality and respect, and jointly promote the steady and long-term development of China-UK relations.

In the current turbulent international situation, China and the UK, as permanent members of the United Nations, should provide more stability to the world.
