  • A magistrate, who was coming out of a late hearing, had stopped the attack.

Up to four years in prison were pronounced by the criminal court of Béziers (Hérault), Wednesday, against two men and a woman, prosecuted the extortion with violence of a pregnant woman, in the night from January 19 to 20, in the city center of the Hérault sub-prefecture.

That night, as a magistrate left court after a late hearing, he assisted a young woman, five months pregnant, who was on the ground and appeared to have been assaulted by two men and a woman.

The magistrate had alerted the police, and the municipal police had taken the suspects to the police station, relates Raphaël Balland, the public prosecutor of Béziers.

She had ended up agreeing to accompany them to an ATM

The victim had explained that she had been abused, at her home, by her brother, whom she was hosting, and a woman who accompanied her, "because she had refused to give them money".

She had agreed to accompany them to an ATM, but she had asked a man in front of her building to call for help.

"This one turning out to be the friend of the woman who attacked her, he had grabbed her by the arm to make her fall", before being beaten by the trio until the arrival of the magistrate, notes the prosecutor.

The suspects, alcoholic at the time of their arrest, had given confused explanations, before admitting "having committed violence and demanded money from the victim, with the exception of the man who remained at the bottom of the building who only admitted to having taken her phone to prevent her from calling the police.
