The Swedish Migration Agency has now increased its preparedness to be able to receive refugees from war-torn Ukraine.

- It is difficult to estimate how many people come to Sweden in particular, says Fredrik Bengtsson.

Small Ukrainian population

According to Fredrik Bengtsson, there are historically two things that govern which countries refugees choose - the local area and how large a network they have.

- We have a fairly small Ukrainian population in Sweden, up to 15,000 people, while Poland, Germany and Spain have a fairly large population from Ukraine, says Fredrik Bengtsson.

Via the bridge or ferries

Despite this, the Swedish Migration Agency has scaled up its preparedness to be able to register newly arrived refugees and move on to housing.

But exactly how many people you have the opportunity to receive, Bengtsson can not say.

- I do not want to talk numbers but we have a good preparedness.

It is quite probable that those who come here will come via Skåne via the bridge or the ferries in Ystad or Trelleborg.
