NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance is deploying response force units on land, air and sea, to respond quickly to any emergency event.

He did not initially announce where the forces would be deployed, in statements that came after a video conference with NATO leaders.

And the German news agency has learned that ground forces could be sent to Romania.

On the other hand, the response force units are scheduled to go to Norway to participate in an exercise, in the first deployment of sectors of the response force in the framework of deterrence and defense of the coalition area, according to Stoltenberg.

NATO members said in a statement that the measures were "preventive, proportionate and non-escalatory."
