China News Agency, Washington, February 24 (Reporter Chen Mengtong) US President Biden said at the White House on the 24th that if Russia continues to take military action against Ukraine, US-Russian relations will be completely broken.

This is the first time Biden has spoken publicly on Ukraine since the situation in Ukraine significantly escalated.

He made the remarks in a question-and-answer session that followed, adding that he currently has no plans to meet with Putin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in the early morning of the 24th Moscow time that a special military operation was launched in the Donbas region.

In his speech, Biden pointed out that Russia's military action was "a premeditated attack." For the entire European security situation, "this is a dangerous moment."

On the same day, Biden announced another round of large-scale sanctions against Russia by the United States.

He said that the total assets involved in the US sanctions against Russian financial institutions are about 1 trillion US dollars.

The Russian economy will pay a heavy short-term and long-term price for this.

Biden also revealed that NATO will hold a leaders summit on the 25th to formulate measures to further strengthen NATO.

As part of NATO's response, he has authorized the Pentagon to send additional U.S. troops and equipment to Germany.

However, Biden reiterated that the U.S. military is not and will not be involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"U.S. troops go to Europe not to fight in Ukraine, but to defend NATO allies and reassure allies in the east."

The Pentagon announced on the evening of the 24th that the U.S. military will send an additional 7,000 troops to Germany "in the next few days" to strengthen deterrence against Russia.

This is the third time that the United States has sent more troops to Europe in February, and the cumulative number of additional US troops has reached about 12,000.

In addition, another about 2,000 US troops have moved to the eastern NATO area.

Earlier in the day, Biden held a video meeting with G7 leaders to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

The White House said in a statement after the meeting that the G7 leaders agreed to move forward with a series of sanctions against Russia.

Russia's choice will cause Russia to face direct and enormous economic pressure and be isolated from the global financial, trade and technological system.

The G7 leaders also agreed to strengthen coordination to mitigate spillovers from the situation in Ukraine and ensure stability in global energy markets.
