The Taqdeer Award, in its special edition, celebrated the outstanding performance of a number of contractors and service providers, who demonstrated a continuous commitment to ensuring the welfare of workers and applying the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environment at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the special edition of the award honored a number of companies that played a pioneering role in improving labor relations, thus consolidating Dubai's position as home to many of the most advanced employers at the level of Region.

Awards and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the winners in nine different categories of the award during the ceremony hosted by the Dubai Exhibition Center at “Expo 2020 Dubai”, in the presence of the Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director General of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, Reem Al Hashemi, and Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in Dubai, Chairman of the Taqdeer Award, Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, and Secretary General of the Award, Lt. Col. Khaled Ismail.

The exceptional edition of the annual “Taqdeer” honored a number of companies and individuals, in recognition of their continuous dedication and adherence, in spirit and letter, to the standards of “Expo” to ensure the welfare of workers, as they are all linked to contracts with suppliers, and are subject to continuous and rigorous evaluation by the workers’ welfare team at “Taqdeer”. Reem Al-Hashimi said: “We are pleased to share the (Taqdeer) award in this celebration, which embodies what can be accomplished when we are keen to appreciate each other as brothers in humanity and contributors to its path, and strive to achieve our highest goal, as empathy, solidarity, determination, personal and professional excellence and care are all qualities that enable us Building better, more equitable and sustainable.

She added: “Our heritage will remain immortal, not only in the buildings we build, but also in our spirit, and in our constructive contributions to global industry standards, expectations and outcomes.

What we hope as an organization is that all the companies and individuals you represent today will feel the highest sense of pride in what has been accomplished, and that all the skills, experience and knowledge they have acquired during the journey we have walked together will become an integral part of Expo’s timeless and inspiring legacy for all future workforces.”

For his part, Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor said: "We are pleased to honor a recognition award for an elite group of distinguished companies and their hardworking workers, who played a key role in building the edifices of (Expo 2020 Dubai)."

He added: “Within the framework of its efforts to build the best relations between companies and workers, it launched the Labor Excellence Cards Appreciation Award, which will save outstanding companies and workers tens of millions of dirhams annually in the form of government incentives and discounts provided by more than 60 institutions and shops operating in Dubai, and this will benefit more from it. Out of 61,000 engineers and workers, they work among the 13 distinguished companies that were honored in recognition of their contribution to building the (Expo 2020 Dubai) edifices.

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Ismail said: “The award has achieved multiple achievements since its launch in 2016 on the path to strengthening relations between companies and workers, thanks to its vision and objectives, and the great support it received from many government agencies in the form of incentives and discounts that contributed to encouraging more Companies to participate in the award, which has benefited from its facilities more than 140,000 workers so far.”

He added: "Expo 2020's support for our initiative aimed at honoring the workers, who contributed to building the projects of this giant event, strengthened our joint efforts to move forward on the path to enhancing Dubai's reputation as the best city to live and work."

Among the award-winning companies, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Company Compass Middle East, Al Naboodah Construction Group, Emrill Services, Farnek Services, Laing O’Rourke Middle East Holdings Limited, Jacobs Mays Project, Proscape, EFS Facilities Management, Inc. ISG Middle East, Alec Engineering and Contracting, and Prolab Digital.

The winning companies were also awarded the Gold Card for Distinguished Companies from "Taqdeer", while their employees received the Blue Excellence Card from Taqdeer, in recognition of their dedication to following health, safety, quality and environment standards.
