Russia's invasion of Ukraine is part of a larger confrontation with the EU, NATO and the United States, according to Sweden's Commander-in-Chief Micael Bydén.

The Armed Forces sees no worrying Russian activity along Sweden's borders but is ready to act if necessary, he says in a statement on the Armed Forces' website.

- We are prepared to meet all developments.

We do what is necessary to solve our most basic mission: To keep Sweden safe.

At the same time, the Swedish Armed Forces' communications department states that very many Swedes applied to the Home Guard this week.
