While the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the general mobilization in the country, Ukrainian nationals are preparing to return to their country to come and help their compatriots.

This is the case of Artem, expatriate in France, whom Europe 1 was able to meet.

Two jeans, a few t-shirts in a suitcase.

Concentration at Artem.

"It's not my place here, I can't just observe it from afar", confides this Ukrainian expatriate in France at the microphone of Europe 1, affected by the Russian military invasion in his country, Ukraine.

"I'm not a soldier, I can't fight," Artem continues, "what I can do is help the refugees. For them, it's very important to be welcomed by someone who speak your language, who can just listen to you."

Last conversation with his son

This expat leaves for Poland by car.

His partner and his son join a grandmother in Switzerland.

There is a need to be together after a still surreal invasion.

On the dining room table, a drawing by Arman, 5 years old, explicit.

"First there was the sun but suddenly Russia started attacking," said the little boy.

Artem replied: "Me, it makes me want to cry. It's not normal for a 5-year-old child to draw this kind of drawing."

His son explains: "I wanted to put it as a souvenir so that my dad wouldn't be stuck with the Russians."

And the father to let go: "I love you Arman."

“I am happy that my relatives understand me”

Mother Nora attends this conversation.

Both parents have dark circles in their eyes, but a gentle smile.

"The departure seems a bit far," wonders the mother.

"I'm glad that my relatives understand me, that no one is trying to tell me no," says Artem.

And Nora also understands her departure: "But you're not going to go back to Ukraine, you're staying at the border! I think you're not the only one, that there are a lot of people who have the same impulse because they have to be there."

On Friday, the father of the family should approach the Ukrainian border.

Artem would like to get loved ones out of the trap of war, but he has no return date.
