Ukraine appeals to the United Nations: “Do everything possible to stop the war.” America responds: “We will present a draft resolution to the Security Council.”

Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations said this morning that Russia had declared war and the UN Security Council must stop it.

Ukraine urged the United Nations to "do everything possible to stop the war,"

while the US ambassador to the United Nations said, "We will present a draft resolution to the Security Council today, Thursday."

Russia's ambassador to the United Nations responded by saying, "It is not a war, but a special military operation."

At the request of Ukraine, the UN Security Council held an emergency session on Thursday to discuss the latest developments with Russia.

In his address to the members, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that the last hours had witnessed rumors and indications of an imminent Russian attack on Ukraine.

The UN official also called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to give peace a chance, as he put it.

He admitted his mistake when he previously believed that nothing would happen on the borders of Ukraine.
