As noted, politicians turned to Biden against the backdrop of planned exercises in Russia of strategic deterrence forces under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin.

“As Russia mobilizes for what could be the biggest land conflict in Europe since World War II, Vladimir Putin is overseeing a massive strategic exercise designed to demonstrate the Russian Federation’s readiness to trade nuclear strikes with the West and emerge victorious,” the congressmen said.

According to them, Moscow's message in this situation is clear: it "will use its modernized and effective nuclear arsenal to influence NATO actions and, if necessary, to achieve the desired outcome of the conflict."

Against this background, Biden is considering, among other things, the possibility of abandoning "the most important nuclear potential and moving away from nuclear declarative policy," American politicians added.

US allies in NATO, for their part, understand the danger of such steps and oppose the corresponding initiatives, the members of Congress specified.

“In this situation, the pragmatic course is quite obvious.

We expect President Biden to support the full funding of the current nuclear modernization plan and refrain from any consideration of changing declarative US nuclear policy,” Congress said.

In the opinion of Inhofe and his colleagues, the development of events according to a different scenario will not reduce the risk of the use of nuclear weapons by Moscow, Beijing or Pyongyang, but will only push the opponents of the United States to more aggressive actions.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Armed Forces held planned exercises of strategic deterrence forces.

During the events, ballistic and cruise missiles were launched.

According to the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, exercises and training launches of missiles are a regular process, this should not cause concern to anyone.
